I wish to take the pneumovac vaccine ,i have not taken any vaccine or injection of any type in the last two months ( taken a shot of tetvacnon 5th november 2024) and have now got very slight phlegm in throat that gets extracted as and when i am taking hot tea or inhaling steam.Otherwise no cough symptom and no sneezing .Can I take the pneumovac in this condition? i want to take the vaccine for preventive purpose

Slight phlegm is not a contraindication for pneumovac vaccine. Pneumovac 23 vaccine should be taken once only in 5yrs in adults above 50yrs according to CDC guidelines Taking before 5yrs can lead to hyporesponsiveness.

Hello, Yeah having an occasional cough is okay u should not worry about that. If u have any active infection during this period first complete the antibiotic treatment to resolve the active infection. After 15 days you can proceed further for your Pneumovax Vaccine. But u need to take 3 doses of vaccine to develop lifelong immunity
