Prostatitis is painful and takes a longer time to recover. It is also known for recurring. You will need to take antibiotics for 6 weeks, void frequently with pressure over suprapubic region to empty the urinary bladder completely and then get evaluated for the cause of post void residual urine. It could be due to painful urination per se.
