I've been wearing a cast for 8 weeks now and I've just done a repeat x-ray check (find films of the side view attached) My doctor says there is formation of callus and  I've to wear the cast for another 4 weeks. Is 12 weeks normal for cast wearing? How do I treat moderate disuse osteoporosis? Can I start weight bearing on the leg

I cannot see much callus formation in this xray. Callus formation starts within 3 weeks. Please consult for further opinion. You may need some intervention for fracture union.
