Your mother’s thumb swelling and peeling skin could be due to slow healing, residual inflammation, or mild infection. Here’s what you can do: 1️⃣ Continue Wound Care – Keep the area clean, apply an antibiotic ointment, and avoid excessive moisture. 2️⃣ Reduce Swelling – Apply warm compresses and keep her hand elevated when possible. 3️⃣ Watch for Infection Signs – Redness, increased pain, pus, or fever needs medical attention. 4️⃣ Moisturize & Protect – Use a mild moisturizer to help with peeling skin and wear gloves when needed. 5️⃣ Consult a Doctor – If swelling persists, a doctor may prescribe anti-inflammatory meds or a mild steroid cream. ❤️ Like this message if you found it helpful! Is there pus still? Is the swelling painful? If no , wait and watch Nail.grows very slowly Keep the thumb clean and dry , away from dirt and dust as the area is exposed and can get caught with infections easily

Dear Patient, Thank you for sharing the details about your mother’s condition. Persistent swelling, skin peeling, and slow nail regrowth after thumb surgery for pus drainage suggest that the healing process may require closer evaluation. While some swelling and skin changes can be part of the normal recovery, a prolonged duration (one month) warrants further assessment to rule out complications like residual infection, poor wound healing, or underlying conditions (e.g., diabetes). Key Recommendations:  1. Wound Care: Ensure the area is kept clean and dry. Use a mild antiseptic as advised by the surgeon.  2. Medication:Follow the prescribed course of antibiotics or pain relief (e.g., Zerodol SP) strictly, but avoid self-medication beyond the advised duration.  3. Monitor for Red Flags:Increased pain, redness, foul-smelling discharge, or fever require immediate medical attention.  For a tailored recovery plan, I recommend a consultation with meto:  - Examine the thumb for signs of infection or delayed healing.  - Assess nail bed health and provide targeted care.  - Adjust medications if needed.  You can reach me on WhatsApp at **Eight Zero Zero Nine Eight Two One Three Three Two** to schedule an appointment or discuss concerns. Early intervention will ensure optimal healing.
