Thrombocytopenia

My father in law is undergoing chemotherapy after surgically removing a tumor in his left temporal lobe. He took a blood test and found that his platelet count has dropped. Is this normal? How can we revert it back to the normal range? Also he has lost his appetite. Is there anything that can be done to undo this?

Some chemotherapeutic agents are known to cause thrombocytopenia ( reduced platelet). Which usually recovers in between cycles unless it's very severe, which requires intervention. Reduced appetite is also common post chemotherapy.
