This is about my son 4+years old.
He was 1.17 kg in weight while birth,had blood infection,had taken monicef and vancomycin as injectible medicines.aftwr 1 month he had small pus infection on keft knee so again 1 month same medicine undergone.Then when he was 10 months he was detected with meningjitis with hydrocephalus.so a vp shunt was inserted again he was hospitalised and all above antibiotics treated.Now he is ok but speaks less .All developments walk run cry and activities arenormal.some behaviour problem and speech problem is there.mom papa he says butcant speak 2 words. My question is this vp shunt can ve removed or it is permanent in his whole life.
Shunt is going to be for long.. And will need to be revised as the child grow older.
Because of prematurity and stormy course during first year of life baby had developed some behavioral and language issues that also need to be taken care of.
So be in touch with Child developmental Specialist too . ( Dr Monica Juneja @ MAMC, lok nayak hospital is very good,,, it being a govt medical college, so it is free of cost too).
