My son is 6 years old. 3 months back we did a routine usg of abdomen and found he has swollen mesenteric lymph nodes, since then 4 repeat usg done. The size keeps changing, decreased one month ago, now increased again. All the report says it has normal morphological features (oval shape, preserved fatty hilum etc). CBC, CRP, LDH normal. I am very worried. Could it turn out to be lymphoma? What are the chances of pediatric mesenteric lymphoma?
There are multiple causes of mesenteric lymphadenitis but in majority of cases its non specific. Lymphoma is a rare diagnosis and needs to be worked up by biopsy which is not at all needed in your case.
