Sudden hair fall

Hi, am 21 years old. I have been experiencing a sudden increase in hair fall over the last 2 weeks. The only thing different that has happened is that I got my second dose of covishield on the 1st of August. Is there a possibility that I am experiencing some kind of a side effect, and if there is , what should I do about it?. It can't be genetic because getting bald  in early twenties does not run in my maternal or paternal family. As a matter of fact , no one is completely bald in my maternal or paternal family, just slight male pattern hair loss with age. I also read about something called as seasonal shedding, is it possible that I am  experiencing that ? Thanks.

You are suffering from hormonal changes causing Androgenetic alopecia causing hair fall. It's completely stoppable even regrowth of hair is possible with certain medications without any side effects. Treatment depends on the grade of hair loss. So, it's a must for diagnosing which grade, you are in for an effective treatment. This condition is called Telogen Effluvium. It's a reversible condition in which hair falls out after a stressful experience. The stress pushes large numbers of hair follicles into a resting phase. Within a few months, those hairs can fall out. Types of stress can include any hormonal issues like thyroid or any major illness like Covid and occasionally even post COVID vaccination also these symptoms can b seen in few . Once u start appropriate medications it takes approximately 3-5 months to start seeing any visible difference. U will know if the medication is working if ur hair loss reduces. Growth of hair will occur only post the cessation of hair loss. Normal hair fall upto 100 a day is normal. If it is more than 100 then it is a cause of concern that needs to b addressed. It's a reversible condition but needs to b treated to prevent further hair loss. Consult a Dermatologist
