Spirited strong willed 7y old

I have a spirited and strong willed 7y old at home. He is -very sensitive to his surroundings, - finds it difficult to adapt to sudden changes in routine or even surprises, -shows loud emotions (laugh, cry, anger, etc are very loud), -quite self aware (knows and is very loud about what he can/can't do) General discipline that most of us do at home, like scolding and all, seem to fail. Rather he has become an angry child, raising hand at me at times. Though I do stop him, I need guidance on how to approach disciplining such a child. If he can be guided properly, he can do wonders, and that is where I feel I am not able to do properly.. In addition, i also have a 18m old baby girl who needs constant attention. Please help.

It seems to be maladaptive behaviour which might lead to ODD if left unattended or maltreated. Your child needs an expert psychologist who can perform one to one session effectively. Along with counseling sessions you can try homeopathic medicine. It will help him.

Hi.. Please understand this, your job as a parent is not to discipline your child rather to help him/her understand and manage his emotions, thoughts, and behaviours more appropriately. You can do that through 'Modelling'. Your kids are more likely to imitate your natural responses to a given situation rather than following something that you are trying to teach them. Arguing or quarrelling with the kid is like standing infront of a mirror and arguing with your own image. It will only condition the response that you are actually demonstrating rather than the one you are trying to teach.
Next Steps
Consult a Psychologist. Parent Counselling is required.

If he was earlier also like that before the younger one was born ,which you had described , then I would suggest that you seek professional support.. Maybe you could visit a psychological counselor who can do the standard tests upon him to identify the actual issue.. Accordingly you can take the course of action..
