I was eating food with hot sauce and coughed a bit because it felt like it went down the wrong tube. A day later my throat is hurting a bit and there is some pain when swallowing food.

You may have aspirated bit of hot sauce which might have injured the airway. Usually it will heal within couple of days and no specific treatment is required. You can try doing steam inhalation
