Small cut and mupirocin

I sliced a little part of my thumb off, I am out of bacitracin, about two months ago I had a breast reduction and one of the prescriptions I got was mupirocin during surgery I was told to put the product in my nose for 3 days prior to surgery. I am wondering is it safe to apply the mupirocin to an open wound, the cut is not that deep.
