Skin glow, hair & nails

Is it advisable to take biotin supplements for glowing skin, healthier hair and nails? If yes what is the right dose and for what duration? Is 10000 mcg fine as contained in a supplement? Or is it too much? What are potential side effects?

Hi. In my opinion, only biotin is not sufficient for total care or hair and skin. For a glowing skin, you can go for mesotherapy or vampire facial and many other procedures.

We now have latest studies that show biotin is a micronutrient which is not required more than 0.5 mg per day. Execssive 10 mg a day is only getting flushed out in urine. So most brands are now withdrawing their high biotin dose tablets. There are many nutrients required for healthy skin, hair and nails. So please visit a dermatologist.

Biotin or B 7 is one of the vitamins that constitute the B complex group of vitamins. It is an integral part of the anchoring fibrils of the hair roots. Stronger roots leads to less hair fall and healthy hair. Biotin is required for for several enzymes in the skin to boost skin health. It also plays a role in delaying greying of hair. 10,000 mcg of biotin will be a sufficient dose of the supplement. Biotin works better when given along with other supplements or skin and hair.

Biotin supplements are good supplements for hair growth. 10mg dose per day is sufficient. But alone biotin might not be sufficient. Need to evaluate your skin and hair concerns and then I can tell you better. You can consult online and send pictures.
