Shortness of breath post IV use

I injected prescription pain pills and heroin for approximately six months, multiple times a day and often used insufficient filtering methods such as tiny slivers of cotton swabs, etc. Some of these injections had visible traces of cotton or other foreign matter but in my addiction I simply wanted to die so I didn't care. I've finally sought treatment and am nine days abstintent from any use and have regained my appetite however I feel constantly short of breath, tired, and much weaker than normal. I have mitral valve prolapse with a minor heart murmur and am worried about a blood clot, embolism, etc. How worried should I be? Should I see a doctor for an echo if this doesn't improve soon?
