SGPT high but SGOT normal

2019-02-08 14:51:13
Recently I had a routine health check up, where all the reports came good. Only ALANINE AMINOTRANSFERASE (ALT/SGPT) level came as 131. Where the bio ref range says it should be (21-72). SGOT level was 52. I heard this test is related to liver. Should I worry at this point of time? How should I decrease the same. The method of testing was UV with P-5-P

Significantly elevated levels of ALT (SGPT) often suggest the existence of other medical problems such as viral hepatitis, diabetes, liver damage, bile duct problems..etc ALT is commonly used as a way of screening for liver problems. However, elevated levels of ALT do not automatically mean that medical problems exist. Fluctuation of ALT levels is normal over the course of the day, and they can also increase in response to strenuous physical exercise.
