Hello Doctor, My mother is facing a severe problem. Earlier, she used to feel a sudden muscle spasm/cramp (locally called Gandd (gale ma khana fasna) in her throat/chest area 1 or 2 times a week while eating. But for the last 10 days, this is happening every single time she takes her very first bite of food. The pain and spasm are so severe that she has stopped eating out of fear and is getting very weak. Medical History: She has a history of stomach issues. 1 year ago, a gastroenterologist did an endoscopy which showed a Hernia (Hiatus Hernia). 1 month ago, the doctor recommended another endoscopy, but my mother is too scared to undergo the procedure again. Please guide us on what could be causing this severe spasm during the first bite, and what alternative treatment or immediate steps we can take since she is unable to eat.
