Hello, according to the history you said there is a possibility of muscle going in spasm .you may take a heat pack for 20 mins thrice in a day to relieve the spasm and take good rest .
For your long standing pain it is advisable you visit a physiotherapist who can assess you and give you an exercise program to relieve pain. As constant mild pain may be due to some weakness of muscle .
As per your profession being an engineer you must be sitting for long hours on a chair .its improtant to get your ergonomics right!
