Scar due to carbolic acid on face

My husband got bitten by a stray dog in face. Doc cleaned the wound with carbolic acid which has resulted in brown scar. Wounds have heeled but scar is still there. Plz let me know what to do. Will the scar fade with time. Suggest some ointment. Plz

Can apply virgin coconut oil over the scar to keep moist always... over a period of 2 or 3 months scar mark reduces to light... but it is long term ...
