Hi Yes. It is indeed important to use retinoids a over the face as it not only treats the existing acne but also acne induced pigmentation and prevent new acne formation. The only drawback is severe dryness. This can be avoided by using the cream on top of a water based moisturiser and using small quantities of retinoids cream. Avoid the cream around mouth and close to the eyes. If you still feel dryness you can even try using the cream on alternate nights.
