Regarding eye power

Hello sir/mam.I have never used spectacles.Recently I have done my eye checkup and found -0.25in right and -2.5 in left eye .As I have not used any glass in past,I could not understand why very high power.?Is this bad,what can it cause and what can be the reason for such high power.in one eye as the other eye is of negligible power.

Hello Reason could be genetic or environmental. Does not look genetic in this case. Asymmetrical power is common and there is nothing unusual about this.
