Deep TMS is newer than repetitive TMS ie rTMS The newer machines are more effective and some are part of cutting edge research. There is very good evidence for recovery rates for OCD with deep TMS either as main treatment or if used with medications and psychological therapies. General recommendations for number of sessions vary between machine brands. Latest ones require as little as 18-25 TMS sessions done 1-4 times a day. Number of sessions required and number to be scheduled per day depends on type of machine, level of recommended dosing tolerated by the patient, severity of symptoms and accessibility to services. Improvement is expected from 4-6th session onwards. Again this will vary depending on the type of machine, the percentage of recommended dosing tolerated etc
Next Steps
Consult a Neuromodulation clinic or psychiatrist near you
Health Tips
Deep TMS is expensive and can’t be done if you have non MRI compatible metal implants in your teeth or head.
