Hi i am 14 weeks pregnant and i am having nasal congestion from 2-3 weeks i am using otrivin nasal spray is it safe to use. i tried steam ihalation but no relief.i am having free nose only when nasal spray is used.Please suggest a nasal spray which is safe to use in pregnancy

Hi, I am Dr. Atul Kumar Nimawat MS ENT Otrivin is not recommended for regular use in pregnancy, it can cause rebound congestion. Use saline nasal spray frequently- it’s completely safe. If congestion is severe, your doctor may advise a nasal steroid spray.

Avoid long-term decongestant sprays and continue steam inhalation and head elevation at night.
