I had a pleural effusion in November 2017. Had a thoraceneisis done while in the hospital and another done a week later. All test came back negative. MD stated it was viral. It is now March 2018 and I still have pain starting in my back, moving up the side and into my chest with a bad cough, yawn or real deep breath. Why do I still this pain.

Do chest x-ray and usg thorax. If u have again pleural effusion than again go for thoracocentesis. If no fluid then it might pain due to some residual pleural thickening. U can take pain killers as needed for that
