Platelets 58K, Fever, cold cough.

My mother has low platelet count, checked today. She has fever and cold, cough. Feeling tired. Doctor has prescribed medication however wants to assure, is that a normal viral infection? Dengue test is fortunately negative. Thanks in advance:)
