Pimple turned into black hardened stuff

On my upper thigh portion I had a small pimple which after consulting few people I was able to get rid of with warm water press and antiseptic cream. However when the pimple went away the portion was still painful and currently it's like dark slightly hard (looks like a boil inside the skin) not sure. What should I do since it's painful.
