Hi Your wife can consult a psychiatrist and psychologist. It is necessary to know what is making her crave certain foods and what is making her not be interested in house work. Your wife has been undergoing psychiatric treatment for twelve years and she needs sufficient amount of care from family. If there is something that is bothering your wife she can talk about it with a psychologist. A psychologist will help your wife to slowly start making lifestyle changes. Your wife will need support and compassion from family to feel better. If your wife is not willing to do counselling sessions you can talk on her behalf. Based on what you have mentioned I suggest that your wife consult a psychiatrist first and then consult a psychologist. With a psychiatrist you can explain about lack of personal hygiene and self-care.
Next Steps
Consult a psychiatrist first and then consult a psychologist
Health Tips
Contact me for counselling sessions. Along with counselling I can suggest natural foods to calm the mind.

Hi.. Who diagnosed her with schizophrenia? I hope this diagnosis is coming from a Psychiatrist and not based on Google search on her symptoms. If she is diagnosed with schizophrenia, medications are a must and if not, please do not use such medical terms to explain her condition. First thing as a spouse you can do is to help her get professional help. If she is unwilling you can visit a Psychiatrist alone and share her symptoms. S/he will guide you on her treatment. Also, please bring her parents or elder siblings into confidence before taking her into treatment. In such cases, it becomes very important to involve all stakeholders before taking any decision or at least keeping them informed. There are certain medico-legal issues that must be kept in mind before making decisions on the patients behalf.
Next Steps
Consult a Psychiatrist first for Diagnosis and Medications. Consult a Psychologist for Counselling/Psychotherapy later. Involves her Parents/Family before making a decision.
