Hello doctor, I am having dry cough over a week. Had taken benedryl cough syrup and some home remedies like ginger and honey. But its not going, there is a lot of irritation due to continuous coughing. What can be the immediate solution ?

If you had viral upper respiratory tract infection and treated for it then during recovery its common to have dry irritative cough for few days to weeks. Treatment is symptomatic and take steam inhalation. Use lozenzes like strepsils and its severe cough then you can use dry cough syrups
