Pain after open appendectomy

2025-03-15 01:21:04
Hi My mom had open appendectomy one week before and today completes one week but she still has pain in the operated area as same as the 1st day of the surgery. Is it normal? Or if there are any complications? How long does the pain take to reduce? Thanks

Pain gradually reduces over time. However it is very difficult to comment without knowing the complete details of the case and procedure. It is better you consult the operating surgeon itself.

Usually the pain will subside in 2-3 weeks in case of open appendectomy. If she has throbbing pain , unbearable with fever then suspect for infection. Consult your operating surgeon for a checkup

If pain intensity is same , needs imaging (usg/ct) . Kindly review with primary surgeon .
