Paralysis in left eye causing double vision, also having slight pain in left eye. Eye was operated more than 5 years back.

A. Which surgery was performed 5 years back
B. There are 6 extraocular muscles innervated by 3 nerves...so which nerve is paralysed?

All the muscles are supplied by different nerves hence total ophthalmoplegia is a condition related to brain.not eye.please get an MIR brain done.
Don't neglect it as it could be an alarm for a big neurological problem.

Diabetic neuropathy can sometimes cause ophthalmolpegia. Most likely one or more nerves controlling the extraocular muscles have been paralysed due to diabetes, causing double vision.
Next Steps
You can simply patch the affected eye to avoid doubling of vision. Strict control of Diabetes and hypertension is a must to prevent any further damage. Tab. Neurobione forte and Citicoline twice daily for 6 weeks will be helpful.
This condition is usually self-resolving, and gets resolved in 6-8 weeks, if Diabetes and hypertension are well controlled.
Consult your Ophthalmologist for detailed evaluation and appropriate advice regarding the treatment.
