OCD disrupting my life

2023-12-30 14:40:38
So, even tho it's self diagnosed, I know that I have OCD, I have been suffering for almost a year, with constant intrusive thoughts, compulsions of throwing away anything that trigger me, washing my hands several times, I have many themes and it keeps jumping but it is a mixture of every theme and this stupid disorder is putting my life at hold. I am so done with it, that's why I would like an official diagnosis and start medication. I have researched online and found out about SSRIs like Sertraline Zoloft etc. I really want the help. What process would you suggest for me to do?

Well i always recommended one should get the diagnosis done by a professional, for declaring a particular disorder there are many criteria that need matched or satisfied for one to put into a particular parameters so i would suggest getting a proper diagnosis done by an expert because there are many people I have seen who trouble themselves for making this mistake of taking medication or forming a false belief of having any disorder where they don't even have that but they carry the false belief somehow. Second thing is if you happen to have OCD it can truly be taken care of with the help of therapy , if the severity is high then only one needs the combination of therapy and medicine for the results to be 3 times more than normal.
Next Steps
Get the diagnosis done by a professional. seek help.

You have to take help from mental health professionals to treat your problem in a better way please do not rely on the internet especially for medications, first you should consult with a psychologist about your problem so the psychologist will understand your problem in depth and after understanding your problem psychologist will guide you as per your condition that you need medications or not if needed then psychologist will suggest for psychiatrist help also. You can also consult with me through an online appointment.
Next Steps
Book an online appointment for counseling sessions.

I appreciate your proactive approach to seeking help for what you suspect may be OCD. While it's good to be aware of your mental health, I would strongly recommend consulting with a mental health professional for an accurate diagnosis. They can conduct a thorough assessment to understand your specific situation. Medication, such as SSRIs, can be prescribed by a psychiatrist based on their evaluation of your needs. However, it's crucial to combine this with therapy. Counseling has shown effectiveness in treating OCD by addressing thought patterns and behaviors. I recommend reaching out to a mental health professional in your area for a comprehensive evaluation. If you're open to it, you can also explore options with me through my company Mind Sculpt, and we can discuss a holistic approach tailored to your needs.

To begin with, please do not get into any internet-guided self-medication. The process that I would suggest you in your condition is that you fix an appointment with a psychiatrist and go about handling the issue with you the way the psychiatrist suggests. The internet may be driving you to do self-diagnosis which may or may not be correct. Let the doctor give you a professional diagnosis and medication, if required. As you start feeling better after your treatment by the psychiatrist, it may be worthwhile to seek some counselling and psychotherapy from a psychologist.
Next Steps
Please consult a psychiatrist followed by a psychologist.
