Nipple soreness and inflammation

I am breastfeeding 10 months old. Had sore nipple 6 days back and also heaviness. Heaviness relieved in 2 days but soreness not getting better. Doctor gave nip care ointment, felt little better. Now there is a stinging pain once he starts sucking and become normal after a while.. is it just a normal soreness or an infection? Baby feeds for long in night time and also bite at times, he doesn't have teeth though
