TX â Folate/B1/MVT. ⢠AA/Detox. ⢠If nec disulfiram. Delirium Tremens â Benzoâs (lorazepam), IV Thiamine, Chlordiazepoxide, Atenolol. Delirium tremens usually begins 48 to 72 h after alcohol withdrawal; anxiety attacks, increasing confusion, poor sleep (with frightening dreams or nocturnal illusions), profuse sweating, and severe depression also occur. Fleeting hallucinations that arouse restlessness, fear, and even terror are common. Patients with severe alcohol withdrawal or delirium tremens should be managed in an ICU until these symptoms abate. Treatment may include the following to prevent Wernicke-Korsakoff syndrome and other complications: IV thiamine. Benzodiazepines - Lorazepam.
