Muscle strain recovery

I think I injured my back a week and a half ago while deadlifting. Because of this I stopped deadlifting ever since, but I have continued to squat. However, every time I squat, I can feel my back straining even though I never felt it pre injury. Should I take time off from both squats and deadlifts until fully recovered or should I continue to squat regardless?

It would be better to take rest for some time (around 1week) and avoid squats also.
