Respected sir/madam, I would like to know why mucormycosis affect people who has uncontrolled diabetes mellitus who were on steroid medication during covid treatment? I know steroids act as immunossupresants but why diabetes plays a role? And those who took steroids during covid (for pneumonia) but not diabetic are not prone to mucormycosis?

Due to chronic hyperglycemia, high blood sugar the tissues have excess glucose attached to them. This glucose attachment serves as a nutrition to fungus. Non diabetic do not have this problem.
