There are a variety of conditions such as you described. The commonest one is freckles. Freckles are seen in relatively fair skinned people who have a family history of freckles. They become more in number and darker when you are exposed to sunlight. If not then you may be having some other condition. First the kind of "flat mole" has to be diagnosed. If it is indeed a mole then lasers are only a temporary solution as it may grow back. Freckles can be treated with q switched NdYAG laser, moles are removed by either a CO2 laser or a surgery. You need to take precautions like avoiding sunlight completely for the first 5 days after the procedure. The spots you have got after laser removal are temporary and will vanish with depigmenting creams. I ask my patients who have undergone laser to show me after a week to assess if they have developed pigmentation after laser, as it is common in Indian skin. If they have developed pigmentation or are likely to develop pigmentation starting depigmenting creams immediately resolves their problem in about 1 week to 10 days. Please get these procedures done only from a dermatologist who is trained in lasers. A good doctor knows how to manage any problems which arise out of these procedures. It is common to see many beauty spas and salons offering these treatments by technicians who will wash their hands off if there is a problem. Warm regards. Dr. Rajdeep Mysore.
