Medial side knee pain and tenderness

I'm a new runner . I worked my way to 5kms non stop. For more than Three weeks , I have tenderness on medial side of left knee . Also after knee flexion for few seconds or minutes like in a sitting position I get knee pain after standing from that position. The tenderness is over a bony surface . I'm worried about the tenderness .what should I do
