Maternity issues

So my maternity leave ended yesterday and i was planning to extend it for another month as I had leave balances. Yesterday my HR and new Manager set up a call and said my role has been affected by the recent Acquisition and i was asked to voluntarily resign within two days. And Notice period will be adjusted accordingly. I am in a complete shock, there is no prior intimation of the same and all of a sudden I am asked to resign without having any offer in hand. Please guide me as to what should be my demands before i agree to do as they are asking. Is it even legally right in their part? Please help me with this urgently as i will be having a catchup with the HR today.

Hey, If they ask you to leave, they need to provide you with that month's salary. This is not how a company should act when you are on maternity leave. You can review the employee rules for the company and use them to raise your point.
Next Steps
Go through the rules.

It is really sad and distressing that it all happened at the spur of the moment. Do not sign the legal documents before meeting the right lawyers. Such injustices can be questioned but While joining did you sign any contract documents, But were you the only person where laid off or a bunch of people too, If companies are going through a tough period where they don't see profits, chances of layoff may be high. It's an uncertain world. Start looking for new opportunities, post your resume in all job portals. Don't stress too much about this. Plan what next.
Next Steps
Consult a counsellor, a lawyer
Health Tips
Read the agreements carefully before joining also while forcefully made to resign from the company.

Hi, I'm sorry to hear about your situation, that must be very stressful for you. It is important to understand your rights in this situation. Firstly, it is not legally right for a company to ask you to resign without just cause. If they are restructuring your role due to the recent Acquisition, they should be following proper procedures such as offering you a suitable alternative role, or providing you with a notice period and severance package. Before agreeing to resign, you should consider the following demands: 1.Request for a written explanation of why your role is being affected and why you are being asked to resign. 2. Ask for a suitable alternative role within the company if one is available. 3. Demand a fair notice period and severance package if they insist on you resigning. 4. Request for a written agreement outlining all terms and conditions of your resignation. It is important to consult with a legal expert or a employees' association to understand your rights and options in this situation. Make sure to document all communication with HR and your manager. Good luck with your meeting with HR, I hope you can come to a fair resolution.
