There are different learning styles. There is audio learning style, visual learning style and kinesthetic learning style. In audio learning style , a person listens to something and learns , while in visual learning style by seeing images and visuals related to it learning is better, and kinesthetic learning is when we learn by doing something. I'd suggest you use all three styles while learning. See if you can manage to make pictorial notes of the content or learn it using audio-visual methods like a ppt or video. Thirdly, write what you learn as it helps you register things more. or explain what you learnt to someone else. Explaining it to someone else means that not only you have memorised the material through rote learning but the elaborative rehearsal.
There are other methods to strengthen your memory. Read about mnemonics method and peg system for learning.
Hope it helps you. All the best
