Last two months no period with spotting

My mother age 54. Last two months she has no periods... But slight cramp amd spotting sometimes...this july month periods came...and flow is happening since 7 days in a row and continuing...why these happen?? Is these menopause symptoms? Im afraid of these... Pls tell here some details.

She is in the perimenopausal stage. She will get irregular periods till she finally reaches Menopause. But she should get a thorough Gynaecological examination and follow up as advised by her Gynaecologist.
