Large splinter removed from foot

I had a large splinter removed from the bottom of my foot. A 2 inch incision was made and the splinter removed, then the incision was stitched up. It is 2 days later now and I still have a lot of pain coming 1 inch bellow where the incision was made and I am concerned that a piece of wood was missed. Should I go back to have it looked at again or wait a while longer to see if it heals?
