My nephew was born on 12th August 2017, his billirubin content reached 18.9 this morning...Local hospital asked us to shift the child to a bigger hospital. Kindly tell if this issue is serious and what measures should we take in coming time.

Yes you need to consult good pediatrician and also after jaundice treatment  go for other assessment  for Vision, Hearing and developmental assessment.
