IUGR Stage 3

My baby was born on January 1st after discovering that he is IUGR stage 3 asymmetrical. Only the abdominal circumference was two weeks behind. His birth weight was 2.1 Now he is nearing 3 months old. And he is around 4.7kg. My question is, is it concerning to be born as a lUGR baby? If yes, how should I take care of him? What needs to be done? And what exactly happens post birth of IUGR babies? How long do I need to monitor him?

Babies that are born IUGR generally do well after birth especially if the cause of the growth restriction was not due to any underlying genetic conditions. They do however need close monitoring till they are 3 years old to assess for growth and development.
Next Steps
Consult for developmental assessment and growth

Yes , it’s concerning if baby is IUGR ( as baby may have hypoglycaemia or polycythemia etc ) . It can monitored by neonatologist and proper action will be done by him only . IUGR ( intrauterine growth retardation) so it’s intrauterine means already happened, EUGR ( extrauterine growth retardation ) in this you can do lots of things because it extra uterine means happens after the delivery. You have to monitor for up to 2 years ( weight / height / milestones) .
Next Steps
Continue mother milk , and give supplements
Health Tips
Good Antenatal care is required
