Itching in eyes + red eye problem

It's been a week when I got cold and my left eye started itching. This occurred simultaneously so I thought it would be because of lots of sneezes. But later on the cold was covered up, but the itching is still there. And if I don't even itch eyes, it still turns into red and tears start flowing. May be it has got infected due to dust or what. Please help.
