Is kidney replacement possible for CKD?

My mother is having chronic kidney disease. She is also diabetic and undergoes medicines for that. I would like to know how should i know which kidney got affected the most and whether kidney replacement is an option for her or not ? No doctor adviced this tillnow. But i was just thinking if this could be better solution for her as i can afford it. Her creatinine level is 3.14now.and the fasting sugar 65 and pp 200. Please guide me. After this age and being a diabetic rate of success is very low, even if she undergoes donar is to be from her own family side, there are possibilities, best option is dialysis lifetime. Ask her to maintain her water intake less than a litre, including her tea, coffee and ask her to reduce her protein intake.
