It's important to interpret heart rate with age of child and his body temperature. Usually heart rate increases by 10 bpm with every 1 degree rise in temperature. Heart of 160-170 is normal for a child for less than 1 year but for bigger children it is worrisome

When fever is high then heart rate and respiratory rate can increase to 20% of the normal.
