This is Postinflammatory hyperpigmentation. It is a reactive hypermelanosis of the skin that occurs as a sequela of cutaneous inflammation. Natural color may return to superficial burns and some second-degree burns in several months. Other areas may take much longer and some discoloration may be permanent in burns of greater depth. Medication with creams and peels will help lighten the pigmentation faster. Lasers will also help in reducing the scarring. Consult a Dermatologist for the same.
