Ideal weight gain

My 47 days old son recently went through check-up. It was calculated that he's gaining weight at the rate of 44.8 gms per day (ideal being 20gms) and doctor suggested me to cut back feeding a bit as he's going on the track of overweight. Any suggestions on what needs to be done?

It's OK. Don't worry. Till 6 months of age continue exclusive breast feeding and give as the child wants. Don't hold back, let the child feel satiated. Weight gain is not an issue and it'll normalise by itself. Keeping your child hungry when they want milk is not advised. Thank you for the query, it is nice that you're a concerned parent.

Weight gain for first 3 months of life is 28-30gm per day. If you are giving your milk you should not worry about the weight gain. Continue feeding on demand or once in every 3 hours whichever vis earlier.
