At age of 17 years you must get your number checked twice at an interval of one year and see if there is any change in your spectacle number. If, yes,  there is a change in your spectacle correction/number then you must wait. As in changing spectacle correction there are chances of patient developing some new correction/number after some time. Also there are few examinations you must undergo before Lasik surgery, which your doctor will be performing before surgery which help us to find out the prognosis.
Next Steps
Consult with your doctor about all these topics and then you can do as your doctor advised.
Health Tips
You must not have dry eye or any kind of corneal surface disorder before you go for a Lasik surgery.
