Hypersomnia may be associated with other symptoms such as: 1) narcolepsy causing day time sleepiness, 2) sleep deprivation at night - which may or may not be due to sleep apnea (the common obvious sign being snoring during sleep). One needs to rule out (1) Thyroid dysfunction (abrupt changes and fluctuations in weight, appetite, sleep, body temperature regulation, sex drive, lethary and activity levels) and (2) Kleine-Levin Syndrome which may present with hyperphagia (excessive hunger) and hypersexuality. Homoeopathy can effectively treat the hormonal as well as neurological causes of hypersomnia with long term benefits and without any side effects. for any further queries, you may contact me over the online consult portal of Practo app.
Next Steps
It is advisable to approach a psychiatrist (Allopathy / Homoeopathy)
Health Tips
1) In case of sleep apnea, you may use a CPAP while sleeping. 2) Lab investigation - Lipid Profile. 3) Try to keep yourself physically active during daytime.
