I had my first PAP smear and it was found that I am positive for HPV DNA high risk but negative for HPV 16 and 18/45. Atypical squamous cells of uncertain significance, metaplastic cells are seen, and HPV positive. I am going to the doctor in a few days but for now, I am panicking and don't have any answers. I am 21. What do these results mean? It it likely that I am going to get Cervical cancer? Will I be HPV positive forever?

HPV infection does not necessarily means precancerous. However you need to be closely monitored for how the virus behaves. Like any other virus it has it’s cycle and one’s immune system can take care of it in majority cases.
