The
sugar levels are very high for young diabetic. Young diabetic patients are at a high risk of complications simply because they have to spend a long life with
diabetes. The sugar control should be very tight
HbA1C of less than 6.5 %
Also there are over 50 types of diabetes and a young diabetic can be having any of those unusual types. A proper diagnosis is must so as to have the right treatment.
Young diabetics are often misdiagnosed as type 1 DM presuming that other types of diabetes wont happen at this young age.
Mixtard is a premixed insulin of regular and long acting insulin. If you are taking 2 doses of same you would have 4 peaks in levels of insulin. There would be peaks of glucose with every meal. And these peaks may not coincide. There are better insulin analogues available now.
A detailed history would be needed for diagnosis of diabetes. In case it's type 1 DM sugar chart, insulin doses and insulin technique needs to be reviewed
